These two paintings are my first works at the holiday programmes after the circuit breaker was lifted. I do not have any photos of me working behind the scenes, but this first painting of my pet is my favourite. I followed the course outline for this work but we could change the pet to what we wanted. The colour of the leash is the actual colour of what we had for him previously. What I love about this is how serious but how cute he looks here.

If I have an opportunity to work on this again, I would bring a photo of my pet dog, and increase the distance between the eyes to make him look more realistic. And change the direction where the pink of his ears are facing.

I used acryllic and gouache paint with masking fluid to do the bubbles. I also used watercolour for the water and added lots of brush strokes to the otter to add depth. I made his eyes look in this direction, on purpose, so he looks a bit silly.
